WHAT MAKES YOUR SOAPS DIFFERENT THAN THOSE YOU FIND IN THE GROCERY STORES?

The majority of "soaps" that you find in your local grocery store are actually detergents. Detergents are a group of man-made chemicals that were created for industrial cleaning. Imagine cleaning your skin with something that is used to de-grease your dishes or remove stains from your laundry. Most people use these detergents everyday without realizing how damaging they are for their skin!

Our Natural Soaps are made from vegetable oils and island ingredients, hand selected, and made one batch at a time. Using natural soaps instead of detergents will make a big difference in the overall health of your skin. Think about the benefits of using a gentle, natural product made by people who care about what ingredients come in contact with your skin, rather than using a detergent made by a huge corporation who just cares about the bottom line.

ARE THERE HEALTH RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH REGULAR SOAPS?

Regular soap is fine, but most people that come to us have never even used true soap. They have only used detergents. Harsh detergents are the bad guy.

Your skin and its natural oil (sebum) is your first line of defense from the elements and keeping unwanted pollutants from entering the body. If you are using a detergent-based soap, it cleans the skin but also strips away, or de-greases, the natural oil layer from your skin, throwing it out of balance every time you use a detergent. Because your skin is out of balance, it frantically tries to replace the sebum that has been stripped away and it also struggles with dehydration because the missing sebum plays a large part in helping your skin retain moisture.

The most common problems associated with using detergent based-soaps are overly dry, flaky skin, rashes, and itching. Sometimes the skin becomes so imbalanced it can produce too much oil trying to rebalance itself!

DO YOU HAVE ANTIBACTERIAL SOAPS?

We have a soap which has ingredients known to assist with boosting the skin's immune function, but it can't be officially classified as “antibacterial”. Tropical Blend Soap has Tea Tree and Eucalyptus essential oils which are known for their antiseptic properties and ability to boost immune response to bacteria and fungi. We like to call our Tropical Blend soap “skin food”.

ARE THEY SAFE AND GENTLE ENOUGH FOR CHILDREN?

Yes... The two soaps we recommend for babies and children under two are Kukui Nut Dreams and Lavender. We use Oat Flour and Kukui Nut Oil in our soaps which are very gentle for kids. There is an old wives' tale about taking an oatmeal bath if you have a rash. It really works! By using oat flour in our soaps we create a very soothing base for the skin, the oat protein softens and balances pH. Kukui Nut Oil is wonderful as a moisturizing ingredient and protects children's skin from drying. Kukui Nut Oil is great for preventing diaper rash.

WHAT ARE YOUR MOST POPULAR SOAPS AND WHY?

Kukui Nut Dreams. It is extra gentle and unscented. All the island scented soaps, such as Plumeria, Pikake, Coconut, and Mango Papaya, are popular not only because they smell fantastic, but they also have ingredients to balance, moisturize, and exfoliate your skin! Our Natural Body Wash is also growing in popularity because it has a blend of TEN different exotic oils and absolutely no harmful chemicals. This combines for a super moisturizing wash.
